Adventures in Wonderland

Friday, Lexi had the opportunity to co-host President Benjamin Harrison's birthday with Radio Disney!  She was so excited to be a part of this occasion.  The kids all had a great time having their picture taken with "Alice".
Lexi was really good at this game, Hoops I believe it is called.

I tried so hard to get her to give me a mean face and that was the meanest she got.  Crazy girl!

Lexi playing the bean bag toss.  Look at Gavin in the background.  He is cracking up laughing at Lexi!

Lexi playing croquet.

Lexi playing a game with one of the girls that came.

Dancing with Radio Disney!!  What a fun group of girls!!!

They had to pull the toilet paper as fast as they could.  First one out was the winner.

Playing musical chairs

It was down to Lexi and this girl...the other girl one!

LIMBO!!!!  ;)

Overall, it was an amazing day for her!  She really enjoys acting.  Hopefully she will be able to do more with the Benjamin Harrison Home in the future.

1st Day of School

It is official!  I have a second grader!!  And she loves it!  She has a fabulous teacher and loves her classmates.  Here are a few snapshots from her first day!

Ashley, Lily and Sam were visiting and went to the bus stop to meet Lexi.

What a fun 1st day she had!

The Crazy World of Wal-Mart

Today as I am backing out of my parking spot at Wal-Mart I feel a "bang-crash-bump-slam"...whatever you want to call it.  I didn't quite understand because I was turned around looking out of the back window and there was nothing there.  All of a sudden I see a guy hopping and spinning around.  OMG!!!!  I jump out of the car and yup...I hit him!!!!  I actually hit the poor cart collecting guy.  I am frantic and his reply is..."Oh, I am ok.  This is only my 2nd day on the job and I need to pay better attention."  Seriously?  I hit you and YOU need to pay better attention.  Also, your second day on the job and I hit you?  What a way to start a job!  He insists that he is fine and sends me on my merry way.  I still am haunted by this man hopping around behind my car.  I actually hit someone.  Oh boy, I will never live this one down.

Time to catch up!!

I can't believe how for 9 months I wanted nothing more than for time to pass, and now over a year has passed and I want nothing more than for it to slow down.  These past few months have been filled with so much fun!!  The kids have both lifted my spirits in new ways. (WARNING: The following contains way too many pictures!)

Here is a short recap of our May...(yes, I am going to give a run down of all the highlights since May)

Gavin has learned how to pull anything and everything off of the shelves, however the movies are his favorite.

He is totally in love with 1) his sister and 2) climbing stairs :)

We decided that our front porch stairs had fallen apart enough and that it was time to re-concrete them.  This is my sweet husband bringing home enough concrete bags to do so!  My car did survive that load.

And of course, our super smartie did fantastic at school last year.  She finished school with all A's for the year and is reading at the level of an entering 4th grader.  She is such a good student and loves learning!  We are so proud of her!!!

CAYMAN 2010
We had a great time in Cayman this year!!!  The kids were so much fun and the diving was fantastic!  The highlight of Lexi's trip however, was the snorkeling.  She did such a good job.  I got some shots of her in the pool but forgot to get any shots of her at the dive site we went to.  She actually swam out quite a bit.  However, the mask kept leaking on her so she didn't go too far.  Next year, we will pay a little extra and get a good mask and maybe we can make it out to the coral.  :)
Look Mom, seaweed!!!

Gavin totally loved the beach.  He especially loved eating the sand.  However, he also learned real quick that sand doesn't taste all that great.

Lexi was dying to make a sandcastle and got half way there and got bored.  Go figure.  She also got quite a sunburn...note the new hat and swim shirt.  Poor girl was in quite a bit of pain.

Sweet Lexi at the Turtle Farm dive site.  Mommy and Lexi decided to sit this dive out and let the guys go down.  We sat on the deck and sipped virgin pina coladas instead.  I think we got the better end of the deal if you ask me.

Lexi took this picture.  Beautiful!!!

We found an amazing splash park in one of the new shopping developments.  So much fun!

What a goober...need I say more?

Uncle Chris and Gavy

We had a little birthday party for Gavin while we were down there.  This was his first reaction to a birthday cake.  (as you will see in a few more pics his reactions were pretty much the same with 2 other cakes.  wierd kid)

What a beauty!

Chillin...

HOLIDAY WORLD
We also had a chance to go to Holiday World this summer!  So fun!!!
We spent most of our time at the water park.  The kids loved it there.
Lily loved the slides.

As did Lexi.  I tried so hard to get Lexi to ride the new water roller coaster.  Maybe next year.

He really did love the water.  Not sure what was going on here.

Sam and Lily

Oh Sam!  So cute!!

Nana and Gavin!  Nice hair Nana!

Sweet

Cutie!

I am so proud of Lexi. I was for sure she wouldn't ride any "big girl" rides.  And while these rides were in the kiddie section, I am still shocked that she rode them.  This is a huge step for her and I am proud of her!
Go Lexi!!!

Look at that roller coaster!

GAVIN'S BIRTHDAY
So we have all seen my wonderful attempt of cake making.  Definitely shouldn't quit my nursing job.  However, I want to give myself some credit.  You see, Gavin has a milk protein allergy therefore, can't have any dairy.  Not even the lactose free stuff.  Totally dairy-free.  So you can imagine making a cake with those ingredients.  Yuck and ugly!

Yeah, just sad.  I know.

The presents were a hit though!

LOVES blocks and things you can put other things into.

What a sweet face!

This is a typical occurrence.  Lexi playing with something new of Gavin's.  And all he wants is the one thing that she is playing with.  Siblings.

The cake...not such a big hit.  As you remember from Cayman, he wasn't too fond of his cake there.  The next one was about the same reaction.  I am talking all out screaming!  If we hid the cake we was fine.  Bring back the cake and the water works were on again.  What is it about a cake that is so scary?  Only my kid.

Had to squeeze this in.  Isn't she so beautiful??

Nana and Pappy and G-bomb's birthday.

This was my next attempt at a cake.  Let me also clarify that this was a box cake with regular tub icing. (it wasn't like Gavin was going to eat the cake anyway)  Oh, and Ashley did the palm tree.

Finally, a picture of Gavin with his cake and no crying.  You do see the distance between him and his cake though, right?

Opening presents

DADDY'S BIRTHDAY!
I think this is the only picture that I posted of Ryan's birthday because he hates having his picture posted.  However, we had a great time.

Cool dude!

He is actually saying cheese!  How cute!!

LOUISVILLE ZOO
This week I took the kids to see Ashley and she treated us to the zoo!  What a fun time we had!  I love the looks on the boys faces!

Are they not the 2 cutest girls ever???

This was so fun!  She just sat at the window and played with the kids!

Yes, Ashley is carrying the 4 year old and the 7 year old is pushing the 18 month old.

The splash park was so fun!!!  Somehow though, I didn't get any pictures of Lexi.  She was off having too much fun that I couldn't get any!  (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

We were also able to feed the birds while we were there!  AMAZING!!!  They had a great time!

Thanks Ash for such a great day!

Ok, sorry for all the pics.  If you are actually still reading all of this I know you truly love me.  That or we really have that interesting of a life.  :)
